Dariush Rezaeinejad

Dariush Rezaeinejad was born on February 18, 1978 in Abdanan, Ilam province. Started school one year later than usual due to his physique, which was a bit smaller than those of his age group, Dariush always made his teachers and his classmates surprised with his fantastic talent. As a top student in all his school years, he managed to pass two years during the summer break, compensating going to school a year later than normal. He also overtook those of his same age group.

Winning the first place in several provincial student scientific competitions, Dariush received his high school diploma in 1995 in mathematics. He then sat for the university entrance exam and was accepted to study Power Electronics, an electrical engineering branch, at the Malek Ashtar University of Technology in Isfahan. He was diligently working in his academic affairs earning the computer sciences besides his studies. Having completed his bachelor’s degree program, he was employed as a researcher in the country’s major research and scientific centers. Lately, he successfully passed the university entrance exam and furthered his higher studies at the Orumieh University in the field of Technical Engineering. He got married at around the same time and was blessed with a daughter named Armita.

In 2012, Dariush Rezaeinejad successfully passed the PhD qualifying exam and started to pursue his PhD studies at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology in Tehran. During his studies, he published some articles and led many research projects in his field. Having received several invitation letters from European universities, Dariush, loving wholeheartedly his country, rejected all of them.

After the assassination of Dr. Masoud Alimohammadi in January 2010, Dariush was so dismayed but never hesitated and became steadier and firmer on his way. Dariush had received suspicious calls after the assassination of Dr. Majid Shahriari in November 2010. Mossad had determined to assassinate Dr. Rezaeinejad and other nuclear scientists due to their activities on Iran’s most sensitive projects. 

On July 23, 2011, a gunman, on the behest of the Mossad, shot dead Dariush before the eyes of his wife and five-year-old daughter. The first bullet hit his arm and the successive bullets hit his head, heart and right lung.

One of the neighbors who reached the scene when hear the gun firing, said, “When I reached the alley I saw the body of Mr. Rezaeinejad covered in blood in the arm of his wife and their shocked daughter was sobbing next to them.
