Major General Nourali Shoushtari was the commander of the Quds Base in Sistan and Baluchestan province. Through tireless efforts, he played a crucial role in fostering unity between the Shia and Sunni tribes of the region.
Martyr Shoushtari worked to strengthen solidarity and cooperation in even the most remote areas of Sistan and Baluchestan. His contributions were not limited to this province but extended to regions like West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah, where he actively promoted unity and harmony among different communities. Shoushtari's approach prioritized practical unity and contrasted sharply with the punitive policies often used against impoverished individuals forced into crime or smuggling in border regions. He supported the families of offenders, aiming to build trust, prevent extremism, and create a foundation for resolving conflicts.
On the morning of Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the age of 61, Shoushtari was assassinated in a suicide attack by the Jondallah terrorist group in the Pishin area of Sistan and Baluchestan, along with many Shia and Sunni tribal leaders.
