Iran Air Flight 655 was shot down by the US Navy's guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes on Sunday July 3, 1988, killing all 290 passengers, including 66 children, and crewmembers onboard.
The civilian airliner, carrying passengers from Iran, Italy, the UAE, India, Pakistan and the former Yugoslavia, was en route from Iran's southern city of Bandar Abbas to Dubai when it was hit by two SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles launched from the warship commanded by Captain William C
June 20, actually signifies the start of MKO’s political isolation because their armed act against their own people while they were under the protection of their enemy Saddam Hussein was condemned as treason by Iranians.
June is the month of significant dates in Mujahedin Khalq Organization’s history. The most important one is June 20th, 1981 when MKO’s coup d’état against Islamic Republic failed. According to MKO’s propaganda June 20 signifies the day the group declared armed
Though the MeK retains its terrorist designation, it has become something of a darling for pro-war US Congressmen who see the group’s repeated accusations against Iran as a pretext for a US occupation there.

The United States has officially worn out its welcome in Iraq. Throughout eight years of occupation the US-backed government appears to have grown tired of taking the endless array
MKO’s firm stance against relocation and Stevenson’s unilateral, time killing plan are signs of Rajavi’s strong will to maintain the cult's only ideological container since the removal of Ashraf signifies the removal of the organization that has worked to recruit and keep thousands of people behind its bars in their isolated world…
More than seven years after the fall of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, MKO leaders still force members to stay in the group. They treat their rank
As the iron arm of Saddam Hussein to suppress Iraqi Kurds and Shiites uprisings in 1991, Mujahedin Khalq Organization is seriously detested by Iraqi nation and government. The Iraqi government has so far shown quiet amount of tolerance for a terrorist destructive cult

The IPC activities and positions, during its 6 years of activity fully explain widespread support of this committee for MKO while this terrorist cult and its leaders used to claim fighting against the Imperialism and America in particular as their most fundamental cause not a long time ago.
Following is an indication to the true nature of "Iran policy committee" (IPC) which has been founded by MKO investments in order to affect on the policy of U.S and western countries

In an interview with "Khorasan" newspaper,Habilian Association(families of Iranian terror victims) Secretary General, assessed some recent reports on MKO declaring readiness to exist Iraq.
Referring to the U.S. support for MKO survival in Iraq, Seyed Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad said: It is obvious that MKO has relied on American promises and whenever Iraqi government has sought to take actions against MKO, they resorted to threats such as committing mass suicides.
"MKO had applied some
Removing them from the list is one step forward for neoconservatives who would like to see the oil rich region under American control, and who would like to see Iran’s Islamic influence in the Middle East weaken. Some Americans will question NY Times’ motive, and maybe some will actually support the idea, after all, there are political A-listers in favor of Rajavi’s cult.
On February 16, 2011, the *New York Times* agreed to run a full page advertisement for the terrorist
Using common definitions, there is good reason for the MEK to be deemed by the U.S. Government to be a Terrorist group. In 2007, the Bush administration declared that "MEK leadership and members across the world maintain the capacity and will to commit terrorist acts in Europe, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, and beyond," and added that the group exhibits "cult-like characteristics."

There is no doubt that today hypocrisy has become a part of US policy towards Tehran. The overt double standard in the attitude of some of US former politicians has been observed in their recent speeches at MEK's propaganda campaigns where paid politicians offered their support to a terrorist designated group.

When witnessing Qaddafi’s behavior in the recent suppressing of the Libyan people, we remember that of Saddam. Even in recruiting mercenaries (from African countries neighboring Libya)—Saddam did something similar. Perhaps Gaddafi has adopted Saddam Hussein’s style of hiring mercenaries.

MEK has no popular base in any country. It relies totally on foreign sponsorship. During the 1980-88 war against Iran launched by Iraq’s late dictator, Saddam Hussein, which was funded partly by the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other Gulf states, MEK was allowed to set up a military base, Camp Ashraf, inside Iraq. Its own country under attack, MEK was given refuge inside the aggressor’s territory.

Israel’s machinations for preemptive war with Iran have reached new heights and depths with their employment of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) to undertake a series of terrorist actions in that country, which includes the internationally publicized cases of the assassinations of Iranian scientists in the last two years, and other acts of violence in Tehran, and Azerbaijan/Diyala/and Balochistan Provinces.
In the same way that Mr Qaddafi has turned to foreigh mercenaries, Saddam Hussein could also rely on his own foreign legion, the Mojahid-e-Khalq organisation whose divisions were used to fight both against the Kurds and the Shia down south (Mariam Rajavi, one of the group's leaders, famously said "take the Kurds under your tanks and save your bullets for the Islamic Guard").

I consider the MKO a terrorist group for good reason. There is no doubt that the MKO has targeted Americans, and no amount of slick public relations should erase that. During my time in Iran, it was clear that while Iranians respect the United States and have little good to say about their own government, they all detest the MKO.

Lobbyists labor to get Iranian group taken off of U.S. terror list. Two lawyers well-known for their intelligence and national security work in Washington are lobbying to remove an Iranian group from the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations. On behalf of the Iranian-American Community of North Texas, Joseph DiGenova and Victoria Toensing of DiGenova & Toensing have registered to lobby for removing the Mujahadeen-e-Khalq (MEK) — otherwise known as the People's Mujahedin of Iran —

Our friend David Frum published an interesting post, “America Can’t Afford to Ignore the Chaos in Bahrain”, see here.

David makes some points with which we agree, as when he writes that “An entire American carrier battle group is based in Bahrain—there is no way the United States can avoid being implicated in the actions of the Bahraini government.” But we
The West used to support notorious killers—Saddam Hussein and the Taliban—because they had the same enemy. And now, in an attempt to disrupt Iran, the West is befriending and supporting the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO). The West should learn from their disastrous experiences. The Arabic proverb "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" offers a seemingly innocuous short term logic which the US and Europe has bought into—but banding together with militant radicals to demolish a common enemy doesn’t
Not only that, but they are aging, and not recruiting new supporters. This is a bankrupt group that is not going to do what the Right Wing neo-con dead-enders in Washington hope they will do. It is sad and pitiful for anyone to be hitching their horse to this group. I only wonder who is paying the lobbyists and others trying to gin up their empty cause.
Foreign Policy Analysts Flynt and Hillary Mann Leverett reported in a recent blog post:
