Targeted Killing in International Law View

Assassination, targeted killing, and violence have a long history in human affairs, often employed as methods during armed conflicts between states and warring groups. This practice has persisted into modern times, extending beyond periods of war, which is precisely the subject of this book, Targeted Killing in International Law View. As explored in this work, Western governments, notably the United States, and occupying regimes such as the Zionist regime, have, for years, justified their actions under the guise of combating terrorism. In reality, however, their aim has been to legitimize state terrorism by coining the legal concept of "targeted killing," allowing them to assassinate individuals they label as terrorists. In fact, many of these individuals have been freedom fighters opposed to their policies in various countries.

These governments have abused their influence within the United Nations Security Council, broadly redefining terrorism and war zones to carry out targeted killings and extrajudicial executions beyond their borders in third countries. Not only do these acts result in the killing of those accused of terrorism without any fair trial, but they also violate the sovereignty and national rights of other nations, leading to significant challenges in international law and the breach of numerous international conventions and regulations.

Given the limited power of international law to hold powerful countries accountable, and the influence and lobbying these nations exert on international organizations, countries around the world—especially our beloved Iran—have no choice but to become stronger in economic, political, media, and especially military sectors to protect their citizens and prevent the violation of their sovereignty.

With great pride, the honorable author of this book, Dr. Seyed Mohsen Mostafavi, dedicates this work to the esteemed families of martyrs, particularly the families of those who have fallen victim to targeted killings and assassination.
