The Light Bearer, a Narrative of the Lives of Martyrs in the Shah Cheragh Terrorist Attack

On the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to Victims of Terrorism, the newest book about a terrorist incident in Iran is introduced. The Light Bearer, contains narratives about the lives of the martyrs of the terrorist attack at the Shah Cheragh shrine, compiled by a group of researchers from the Husseiniyeh Honar in Shiraz in 2023.

Pouyan Hassan Nia, one of the researchers and authors of this book, wrote in a note regarding the process of writing the book:

"I had finished Maghrib prayer when the news of the Shah Cheragh terrorist attack broke. From the very first few hours after the incident, my friends and I took charge of the scene. We divided tasks and went to every place where there was a trace of the terrorist attack, such as blood banks and hospitals. Our narratives were quickly spread across various channels and then on the IRIB. Some of our narratives on the channel were viewed by over 30,000 people. We dedicated all our time to narrating the terrorist incident. For two weeks, we were constantly working on it. During this time, we encountered numerous difficulties, from the strict restrictions on entering the shrine to obtaining narratives and recording documentaries, to coordinating to enter the hospital and interviewing the injured victims of the incident. But we did not give up. During this time, we recorded many memories and narratives of the Shah Cheragh terrorist attack. We tried to narrate this incident in an Ashura-like manner, using various tools and in various formats. A month after the incident, we had conducted nearly 120 hours of interviews from the families of the martyrs, the injured, eyewitnesses, and the servants of the shrine. We both made documentaries and a collection of clips that were produced in a short period.”

The terrorist attack on the pilgrims of the Shah Cheragh shrine, one of the Shia shrines in Shiraz, occurred on October 26, 2022, and the ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for it. Thirteen people were killed and thirty were injured in this attack. Among the victims were two children and a woman.
