The 16th session of the court hearing charges against 104 members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) terrorist organization concluded on Tuesday, August 13th, at the 11th branch of the Tehran Criminal Court. The trial, held in absentia, is focused on the group's numerous crimes.
The court session was attended by legal representatives for the plaintiffs, families of victims, the prosecutor's office, and the defendants.
During the session, Molai, the lawyer for the plaintiffs, highlighted the terrorist attack on the Islamic Republic Party's headquarters on June 27, 1981. He emphasized the role of the MEK in this attack.
Seyyed Mohammad Sajjadi, a survivor of the attack, testified before the court. He recounted the devastating impact of the attack and the ongoing medical treatment he requires. Sajjadi called for justice for the victims and their families.
Sajjadi, a victim of the MEK's terrorist attack, called for severe punishment for the defendants. He described the explosion that occurred during a meeting of the Islamic Republic Party on June 27, 1981. The blast caused significant damage to the building and injured numerous individuals, including Sajjadi himself. He detailed the extent of his injuries, which included damage to his eye, lung, and head, and the ongoing medical treatment required.
Sajjadi also revealed that he was targeted by the MEK again in September 1982. He was attacked and struck on the back of the head multiple times.
The lawyer for the plaintiffs, Molai, requested permission to present a video clip featuring Massoud Rajavi admitting to the terrorist attack on the Islamic Republic Party's office. Molai emphasized the significance of this confession as irrefutable evidence of the MEK's involvement in the crime.
Ebrahim Khodabandeh, a former member of the MEK, was called to testify as a witness. However, due to procedural reasons, his testimony will be considered as that of an informant for the time being. The court scheduled a future session to hear his full testimony.
Khodabandeh, who was a member of the MEK for 23 years, recounted his experiences with the organization, including his missions in various countries. He detailed his involvement with the group and his observations regarding the attack on the Islamic Republic Party's office.
Khodabandeh revealed that during a meeting in Iraq, Massoud Rajavi claimed responsibility for the attack. Rajavi stated that the explosion was a result of the "people's anger," referring to the anger of the MEK members. Rajavi expressed pride in the attack, believing it had weakened the Iranian government.
