TEHRAN, Jun. 25 (MNA) – IRGC Ground Forces on Friday clashed with and killed a number of terrorists affiliated with counter-revolutionary cells in northwest of the country.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations of Hamzeh Seyyed-ol-Shohaha Base of the Revolutionary Guards, last night IRGC forces clashed with a number of terrorist cells affiliated with counter-revolutionary groups in the border area of Sarvabad in Kurdistan province and the general area of Mahabad in West Azerbaijan province located in northwest of Iran, during which a number of terrorists were killed.
The statement adds that pursuing operations are underway to catch and eliminate the rest of the terrorists.
Further details about the clash will be released at a later time, the statement adds.
Also on Friday, IRGC Ground Forces Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammad Pakpou announced the arrest of two terrorists in southeast of Iran last week, saying the terrorists have confessed to their crimes and how they were backed by Saudi Arabia and US in advancing their goals.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud Alavi, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence, said on Wed. that during a series of arrest operations beginning on June 14 and ending on June 20 a terror team with 10 members were smashed by security forces in Tehran and three border and central provinces in the country.
