Local chief justice gunned down in Iran's Kermanshah Province

The head of a local Justice Department in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah has been assassinated in a terrorist attack.

Salim Qanbari, head of the Justice Department of the county of Ravansar in Kermanshah Province, was gunned down on Tuesday morning while on his way to work, the Director General of the Security Office of Kermanshah Province Shahriar Heydari said.

The official added Qanbari lost his life in hospital while his son, who was also accompanying him, sustained injuries from the attack.

The security official also pointed out that one of the culprits who was carrying a weapon has been arrested. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, an Interior Ministry spokesman told IRNA that an initial investigation showed personal reasons were behind Qanbari’s murder.

Hossein-Ali Amiri added that provincial officials are already investigating the incident.

He also confirmed the arrest of one of the terrorists and said further inquiries are underway to find out more details.

Qanbari worked in the Justice Department of Ravansar for seven years.
