Gharibabadi: Iran is the standard-bearer in the fight against terrorism

Kazem Gharibabadi, former secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, presented a report on his performance during his term in office at the Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Kazem Gharibabadi said at the introduction ceremony of Nasser Siraj, the new secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, that Iran is a victim of terrorism and 23,000 innocent people were assassinated and martyred by terrorists.

He added that various cases, including the terrorist group of the MKO and the Kurdish terrorist groups, etc., have been filed by the Human Rights Headquarters.

Stating that Iran has based its policy in the field of human rights on an active policy, not a passive policy, Gharibabadi said: Active means that we do not see ourselves as accused in the field of human rights; we see ourselves as claimants in the field of human rights, and we made demands in the field of human rights; this was the most important policy that we pursued, and we had good successes.

Referring to the resolution of the Supreme National Security Council, he said: The Human Rights Headquarters does not only operate in the international sphere, but also human rights issues related to the country are among the duties of this headquarters. During this period, we formed the Protection Committee with the participation of various agencies to identify human rights violations and processes, but I believe that we still have a lot of work to do in the field of supporting domestic issues.

Gharibabadi considered the structure of the Human Rights Headquarters one of its strengths and added: The Human Rights Headquarters has an unparalleled capacity, because its members are present at the highest levels from all three branches. The head of the Judiciary is in charge of the headquarters, and officials such as the Chief of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General of the country, the Head of the General Inspection Organization, the Head of the Prisons Organization, 5 ministers, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, the Head of the Radio and Television Organization, the Head of the Parliamentary Judicial Commission, and the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs are also members of this headquarters. This combination has provided a huge capacity for advancing the country's human rights goals.

Referring to the actions of the Iranian Human Rights Headquarters in the Palestinian context, the former secretary of the headquarters stated: After the recent events in Palestine, we focused specifically on documenting the crimes of the Zionist regime, pursuing these crimes legally in international forums, and exposing them. Also, numerous measures were taken in the area of sanctions to show that the real violators of human rights are those who have violated the rights of the Iranian people through cruel sanctions.

Gharibabadi considered Iran to be the standard-bearer in the fight against terrorism on a global level.

He referred to the invitation of the UN Special Rapporteur to Iran and his 11-day stay in Tehran, considering it an opportunity to demonstrate the impact of sanctions on the human rights of the Iranian people, and said: This rapporteur was able to prepare a documented and appropriate report that shows how sanctions have violated the rights of the Iranian people. We used every opportunity in international organizations to highlight this issue and filed numerous cases in the judiciary to support victims of sanctions.

Gharibabadi also addressed the measures taken to support Iranians abroad and said: The International Deputy of the Judiciary, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took extensive measures to facilitate the access of Iranians abroad to legal and judicial services. Updating judicial systems, including the Sana system, with the help of the Judiciary's Center for Statistics and Information Technology, was one of these measures. In the field of supporting Iranians detained abroad, the role of the International Deputy was very prominent, and successful examples such as the release of Mr. Asadollah Asadi, Hamid Nouri, and the student detained in Azerbaijan are evidence of these efforts.

He considered the international interactions of the Judiciary to be one of the significant achievements of this period and added: In the past 40 months, the international interactions of the Judiciary have been 4 to 5 times more than in the past 4 decades. The number of delegations dispatched and received, memoranda of understanding signed, and joint programs implemented during this period have been unprecedented.

Gharibabadi expressed his gratitude to the International Deputy and Human Rights Headquarters team and said: Our team achieved these achievements with less than 80 people, including 30 specialized and efficient content workers. I am grateful to Mr. Siraj for accepting this important responsibility and wish him success.

He said: We freed our compatriot in Italy who was arrested with the help of the International Deputy, the Judiciary and other agencies, and we also had a student in Azerbaijan who we freed using our own capacities; we had many of these cases and we freed our innocent compatriots who were imprisoned in other countries.

He concluded by saying: We supported our compatriots without caring about their religion, creed, gender, or political ideology.
