Ishrat Eskandari

In August 1982, members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq terrorist group (MEK) launched a brutal attack on the home of Martyr Ishrat Eskandari. During this invasion, Eskandari and her guests, Fatemeh Ashrieh and Ali Akbar Khodadadi, were gunned down at the breakfast table.

According to Habilian, Ishrat Eskandari was born in 1957 in a village near Firuzkuh. During the Islamic Revolution, she actively participated alongside other Muslim women, exposing the corruption of the Pahlavi regime.

Eskandari was a kind and devoted mother to her four young children: Mahdi (4), Mansoureh (6), Masoumeh (8), and Mohammad Javad (10). She had a deep faith in Islamic teachings and a special devotion to Imam Khomeini. She often expressed her wish to be martyred before her husband.

On August 26, 1982, several relatives of Martyr Eskandari’s husband were visiting their home. Early that morning, two MEK members knocked on the door. Eskandari’s young daughter went to open it but was violently pushed aside as the terrorists stormed into the house. Eskandari, her husband, and their guests (Fatemeh Asharieh and Ali Akbar Khodadadi) were sitting at the breakfast table. Without any regard for the identity of those in the room, the terrorists opened fire with Uzi submachine guns, mercilessly shooting everyone present. They then cruelly sprayed the windows with bullets and rampaged through the house, indiscriminately firing in every room.

As a result of this horrific crime, Ishrat Eskandari was martyred in front of her young children, her body drenched in blood. Ali Akbar Khodadadi, 18, and Fatemeh Asharieh, 17, who had recently married, were also martyred. Additionally, Eskandari’s 6-year-old daughter was injured by the terrorists’ bullets.
