Speaking with IRNA reporter on Sunday, he said the developments in Syria, Turkey and Iraq proved that indispensable right of people in protecting their vote and self-determination is the most important factor in the contemporary world.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian strongly condemned the attempted military coup against the legitimate government and nation of Turkey, calling it an event conducted through hidden foreign support and the treason of internal perpetrators.
He said Iran's support for Turkish president, the government and the people against the coup, is support for democracy as well as support for an important neighbor and strategic ally.
He also said that recent developments in Turkey shows that coups and terrorism are two sides of a coin targeting security, stability and prosperity of the region.
Former deputy FM also stressed that in recent years regarding the issue of Syria, Takfiri terrorism and Zionists with broad foreign support have taken steps to overthrow the legitimate government of Syria which Tehran believes it opposes democracy and vote of Syrian people.
He underlined that Tehran strongly supports for Syria’s legitimate president, people and army against the attack of terrorists, calling it an important factor in contributing to regional collective security.
“Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Bashar al-Assad are two legitimate leaders of two important countries, Turkey and Syria, who have taken office through the votes of their nation and democracy,” Amir-Abdollahian noted.
