Trump Administration’s Economic Terrorism: U.S. Sanctions More Than 30 Individuals and Entities Linked to Iran

The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned more than 30 individuals and entities linked to Iran in its latest round of measures, continuing its campaign of “economic terrorism,” dubbed “Operation Economic Exclusion,” following its failure on the battlefield.

According to IRNA, the Treasury Department announced the new Iran-related sanctions on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

A notice issued by the department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) listed two individuals and 29 companies and other entities as additions to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List).

The Treasury Department said the measures targeted some of the remaining major components of Iran’s industrial infrastructure, including large railway and automotive businesses, as part of “Operation Economic Exclusion.”

OFAC said the sanctions covered two Iranian nationals and 29 entities based in Iran, China, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Germany, Turkey and other countries.

The department also said it had taken unprecedented action against the “A7 network,” describing it as a shadow banking network with connections in Russia that the Iranian government uses to evade sanctions.

It further said the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network had proposed a rule that would prohibit funds transfers associated with transactions involving subcontractors of the A7 network.

Repeating Washington’s claims in an effort to portray its economic war against Iran as successful, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: “The Iranian government’s ability to finance its war machine and spread terror around the world has been sharply reduced thanks to Operation Economic Exclusion. Today’s action directly targets the Iranian government’s facilitators and paves the way for the United States and its partners to cut off the government’s revenues once and for all.”

Following the military defeat of the United States and Israel, and the resistance of Iran’s armed forces and people, Washington is seeking to realize its ambition of forcing Tehran to surrender through economic warfare and pressure.

At a White House press conference on August 24, Bessent, the U.S. Treasury and economic warfare chief, said: “Today, at President Trump’s direction, we launched Operation Economic Exclusion against Iran. This is an unprecedented campaign targeting Iran and those who enable and support it.”

On August 19, U.S. President Donald Trump, facing intense pressure from the American public and Congress over the consequences of the aggression against Iran ahead of the midterm elections, announced on Truth Social: “Therefore, today I am announcing the most crushing economic operation ever carried out against any country! This will be economic warfare and economic isolation on an unprecedented scale.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi responded on August 20, corresponding to 29 Mordad 1405, by posting two images showing that U.S. national debt had surpassed $40 trillion. He described Trump’s purported “economic D-Day” against Iran as an attempt to divert public attention from America’s economic crisis and mounting debt.

Araghchi stressed that continuing Washington’s failed policies would only bring further failure and deepen Iranians’ hostility toward the United States.
