Martyr Mohammad Reza Tavassoli was born on June 29, 1957, in Kashan, Isfahan Province. He held a master's degree and was employed at the Ministry of Defense.
This great martyr was martyred on October 1, 1982, at the age of 25, in Imam Square on Naser Khosrow Street in Tehran Province. The cause of his martyrdom was shrapnel from a bomb planted by the hypocrite group (Monafeqin, referring to the MEK).
On the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Martyr Mohammad Reza Tavassoli, the Habibian Foundation conducted an interview with his sister. The following is the talk of this great martyr's sister:
"My brother Mohammad Reza was born in Kashan in 1957. From the beginning, he grew up under the care of parents who were lovers of Islamic teachings. Our home always carried the scent of prayer and piety."
"I remember from the age of six, without anyone teaching him, he started praying on his own. It was as if angels were teaching him. At school, he would gather other children around him and talk to them about Islam and politics. He was always concerned that good deeds be done and bad deeds prevented. Enjoining good and forbidding evil was in his blood."
"When he got his diploma, he wanted to go to the seminary. His heart yearned for religious studies. But at that time, the conditions were dangerous, and our parents were worried about him, so they objected. Although he was very heartbroken, he listened to his family and in 1974, he had to go to America to study."
"But even there, in exile, he did not abandon his beliefs. His friends recounted that he participated in all the demonstrations. With the help of several faithful brothers, he had started Islamic sessions at the university. To tell you the truth, I was also surprised when he said he had converted several African Americans and Jews to Islam with his logical arguments and good morals."
"After obtaining his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, even though he could have stayed there and continued his studies, he said: 'Staying here is not permissible.' Love for Islam and Iran brought him back. He returned to Iran on August 27, 1981."
"At first, he worked in the Construction Jihad and the Ministry of Energy, but he always said: 'I want to be more with my Creator than with the creations.' But when he realized he was needed more at the Ministry of Defense, he went there without a word."
"In 1982, he got married. His wife was an angel sent by God so he wouldn't be alone. But destiny had something else in store... They lived together for only five months... five months full of sincerity and affection..."
"Until the day of October 1, 1982, arrived. The heartless hypocrites, in Imam Khomeini Square, joined this loving butterfly to the candle of his existence... That day, Mohammad Reza joined his true Beloved... We remained behind, with his memory, which, like an ever-burning lamp, lights our path."
