The MEK assassinated not only government officials but also many IRGC members and even ordinary civilians. The organization referred to these operations as “eliminating the regime's fingertips.” Issue 134 of the Mojahed magazine, released on January 6, 1983, explicitly mentions the mass killing of 1,000 Iranians for the so-called crime of supporting the Islamic Republic
It is important to note that the MEK, which remains active against the Iranian people today, has never acknowledged its crimes in the 1980s and continually attempts to absolve itself of these atrocities.
A section of the MEK’s official report, published on January 6, 1983, states:
“...According to a military report from the Command of the Mojahedin Operations Headquarters, Brother Mojahed Mahmoud Ataei, detailed reports from the city commanders, regional commanders, and resistance cell liaisons in Tehran, other cities, forests, and areas, over 1,000 of the regime’s oppressive agents, including corrupt clerics, top officials, commanders of the anti-people IRGC, as well as torturers, spies, informants, and other repressive agents, have been eliminated by the wrathful fire of the people and their Mojahedin children...”
The same report adds:
“More than 600 of the aforementioned individuals were killed in Tehran, with the rest in cities, forests, and provinces such as Gilan, Mazandaran, Fars, Hamedan, Arak, Khorasan, Isfahan, Kurdistan, and other parts of the country...”
