People's Mojahedin of Iran

The German Federal Office for the Protection of constitution published a report in 2008, referring to the MEK as a terrorist organization which is actively involved in terrorist operations.

The 23-page report includes in particular the illegal activities of the group in the situation in Iraq. It also presents the totalitarian characteristic of MEK that has not denounced violence in its political struggle even after the disarmament of its military arm.

It is also mentioned in the report: “The National Council of Resistance of Iran, the political arm of MEK active in Europe and North America, has drawn the attention of the world due to its substantial propaganda and systematic fund-raising activities. MEK has repeatedly succeeded to draw public attention through using skillful and professional propaganda operations.

The most significant example on the case are the self-immolation acts in London, Paris, Rome, Bern, on 17/18 June 2003. The raid by French Security Police on MEK bases was due to the organization’s illegal fundraising activities and the establishment of a combination of terror and further crimes (The investigation on MEK headquarters in Paris and 12 other locations and the arrest of 150 members). Through the searches, among other things like communication equipments and transmitting plants, the police seized 9 million US dollars in cash.

The arrest warrant was issued for 11 of high-ranking officials and Maryam Rajavi, the wife of Massoud Rajavi, the MEK leader. Maryam Rajavi, who is called the president - in exile of the organization, was shortly released together with the other detainees.”
