TEHRAN, Dec. 07 (MNA) – Deputy-interior minister for security affairs has said since Arbaeen ceremony ended, intelligence forces have thwarted a terrorist group of 3 people.
Hossein Zolfaghari was quoted by Iran’s state news agency IRNA on Wednesday talking to reporters, saying that the group was destroyed quite recently. “They had been planning to enter the country from western borders; the intelligence forces were engaged in regular surveillance, which let to thwarting of the possible terrorist acts by the group,” he added.
“During Arbaeen ceremonies, ISIL organized more than 20 terrorist groups and mercenaries, well-armed and prepared for sabotage; Iraqi forces over the borders however succeeded in preemptive measures to hit all groups before they entered the country,” he detailed.
“To provide security for more than 20 million pilgrims is a demanding task; only recently did the terrorist groups manage to hit a group of pilgrims in Hilla,” Zolfaghari lamented.
