Iran is perceived to be at the forefront of the fight against terrorism, the Iranian president said on Saturday, highlighting Tehran’s contribution to the regional peace and security.
“Following (finalization of) the JCPOA and the opportunity for cooperation and understanding, Iran is now known as the flag-bearer of practical fight on terrorism, and is also the messenger of stability and security for the regional nations,” President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday in an address to a number of newly-appointed Iranian ambassadors.
He was referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a final nuclear deal reached between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in July.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is after establishment of stability, security and development in the region,” the president underscored.
He also highlighted Iran’s care for “rapport and unity among Muslims”, stressing, “Today, the overriding priority is fraternity and solidarity in the Islamic world. Thus, we consider it a priority to enhance and deepen relations with Muslim countries.”
President Rouhani also highlighted the significant role of the country’s ambassadors in introducing the leading position of Iran in the region and the world.
The Iranian chief executive further hoped success for the new envoys in their post.
