Two Iranians killed in Karbala bombing

A suicide bomber blew himself up yesterday in an area between major holy shrines in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala, killing at least 2 and wounding some 10 people.

The suicide bomber, identified as an engineer infiltrated into the bridge construction company working in the area, detonated his explosives yesterday noon between the holy shrine of Imam Hossein and Hazrat Abbas among a crowd of Shia pilgrims, Habilian Association reported.

The Security sources added that all the ordinary workers of the company were subject to physical inspection. But the engineers were exempt from inspection.

An Iranian cleric, Hojjatol-Islam Hossein Qoddusi, was taken to hospital, but died of his severe injuries.

Another Iranian pilgrim wounded in the explosion, Seyed Mohsen Reza-Zadeh, was rushed to the Imam Hossein Hospital, but died because of his wounds today morning.
