According to Habilian, as part of the MEK's continued bombings and anti-revolutionary groups' efforts to weaken the Islamic system and portray society as insecure, the MEK terrorist group carried out yet another crime on Khayyam Street in Tehran.
The Kayhan newspaper reporter's account of this terrorist action by the MEK reads as follows:
Around 1:07 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 1986 (20 Farvardin 1365), a bomb with an explosive power of 25 pounds, equipped with an electric timer and containing TNT, hidden inside a green Ford pickup truck in a cloth package, exploded. The blast shattered the windows of shops and buildings within a 110-meter radius and caused partial and total damage to four parked cars. One shop was completely destroyed, and 30 other shops sustained minor damage.
The report states that, following the massive explosion, people in the area rushed to the scene along with rescue forces—including police, firefighters, and IRGC Committee members—to carry the wounded.
As a result of the explosion, a 67-year-old man named Lotf-Ali Haj-Hosseini was martyred.
