Iranian MP Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini has criticized the United States’ decision to remove the Mojahedin Khalq Organization from its list of terrorist groups. |
The U.S. State Department on Friday formally removed the MKO, whose members are known as munafiqin (hypocrites who claim to be Muslims) in Iran, from its official list of terrorist organizations, Reuters reported.
In an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Saturday, Naqavi-Hosseini, who is the rapporteur of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said, “The United States formally announced its support for the munafiqin group with this measure.”
“It is natural that the United States will be henceforth directly responsible for any terrorist act carried out by this group because, due to this measure of the United States, members of the group will be able to travel everywhere and transfer their assets and continue their crimes,” he stated.
Naqavi-Hosseini also said, “On the one hand, the United States attacks Afghanistan and Iraq under the pretext of campaigning against terrorism and levels allegations against countries, but, on the other hand, it cooperates with terrorist groups and provide assistance to them.”
