SCO Condemns Assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader

In his opening remarks, Baqeri described the role of Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council as a grave responsibility. "This position belongs to thoughtful statesmen with deep and far-sighted perspectives, who are respected and relied upon by their nations and governments," he said.

He noted that the person who should have been standing in that position today was his brother Dr. Ali Larijani — the martyred Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council — who was assassinated in the aggressive war waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Iranian people.

Baqeri recalled that over the past year, these two rogue regimes have launched two full-scale wars — in June 2025 and February 2026 — which are still ongoing. "Their declared objective has been explicitly regime change, but they have failed and have been humiliated by the Iranian nation and its armed forces. However, these defeats have not deterred them from further atrocities."

Baqeri added: "In flagrant violation of every principle of the UN Charter and international law, they carried out extensive bombings and committed the unprecedented atrocity of assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei — the highest political authority of the Islamic Republic and the spiritual leader of not only Iran but many Muslim nations worldwide." He continued: "Although this heinous act will not go unanswered, they have set an extremely costly international precedent. All governments must stand firmly against it and, as a first step, condemn it."

He stated that the SCO Security Council Secretaries' condemnation of the assassination was commendable.

Minab Massacre: A Dark Chapter

Baqeri further noted: "Throughout forty days of uninterrupted aggression, we have witnessed savage atrocities — including the assassination of military and civilian officials, attacks on critical infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and health and education centers, as well as support for separatist and terrorist groups around Iran's borders."

He emphasized: "The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab on the first day of the aggression — which martyred over 180 innocent students — is a clear war crime. The deliberate massacre of 180 civilians, including young children, has written a dark chapter in the history of U.S. and Israeli crimes against humanity."

Attack on Iranian Vessel: 'Neither Forgotten Nor Unanswered'

Referring to the U.S. submarine attack on the Iranian vessel Dena during a naval exercise in India, which killed hundreds of Iranian personnel, Baqeri stated: "This action will be neither forgotten nor left unanswered." He added: "Today, it is clear that this war is born of a political project pursued by the extremists ruling the United States and occupied Palestine."
