Iran has been one of the largest victims of terrorism in the region and even the world. Since the early days of the Islamic Revolution and the years that followed, Iran has been embroiled in violent actions by terrorist groups. Many Iranian citizens across the country have fallen victim to such attacks.
What distinguishes the early years of these terrorist attacks from later periods is Iran's ultimate victory in its fierce and relentless battle against terrorism resulting in the expulsion of terrorist groups and their leaders from Iran. Unfortunately, these groups, with the tacit approval of Western countries, have established themselves on soil. Countless official documents and reports issued by these countries underscore the fact that they are aware of the violent and terrorist nature of these anti-Iranian groups.
Compiling information about innocent victims of terrorism, which serves as evidence of the violation of human rights of Iranian citizens, is not only a way to keep their names and memories alive but also a first step towards seeking justice for the families of the victims of terrorism.
With this perspective in mind, and drawing on various written sources and documents, Encyclopedia of Terror Victims of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been compiled based on Article 1 of the Anti-terrorism Financing Law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly. This book includes terrorism victims from February 11, 1979, to November 20, 2024, who were assassinated by more than 30 terrorist groups.
The tragic toll terrorism victims who come from all walks of Iranian society stands at 23,032 . In addition to the full name and father's name, the book includes details such as date and place of birth and assassination, religion, and the type of terrorist operation carried out by the terrorist. Appendices at the end of the book provide statistical tables and charts on the frequency of victims and terrorist activities in different parts of the country.
