MKO claims responsibility for terrorist operations in 1982

The Mujahedeen e-Khalq terrorist group has claimed responsibility for some terrorist operations in Iran in 1982.

According to Habilian Association database (Specialized Center of Research on the MKO's Crimes), the MKO terrorist group has made the confessions in No. 134 of the Mujahid Journal, the group’s main press organ during early years of the 80s.

According to a news that the MKO’s publication has referred to it as a document for its bravely operations, the terrorist group has conducted some terrorist operations in Iran during the so called “Second Phase of Armed Resistance” in 1982.

The attacks included bombing of the governorate building in Shahreza, Isfahan Province; bombing of an IRGC’ Kiosk in Borujen, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province; blowing up car of the Red Crescent’s head in Borujen; assassination of Rahman Razavi, an official in Shahrekord, Chaharmahal-o-Bakhtiari Province; assignation of two IRGC forces in Asalem, Talesh County, Gilan Province; and assassination of Tabriz City Council member.

After the defeat in the electoral processes (the Islamic Republic Referendum, the first round of presidential elections, the first round of parliamentary elections, the Assembly of Experts for Constitution’s election, and the constitutional Referendum), the Mujahedeen e-Khalq terrorist group chose armed struggle and entered the so called “Armed Phase of Resistance”.

This armed phase of struggle itself had two phases. The first phase began on 30 Persian date Khordad 1360 (June 20, 1981) and lasted until the summer of 1361 (June 1982). In this period, the MKO had put the assassination of authorities on the agenda in order for destabilization the Islamic government. The second phase of armed struggle began on June 1982 and lasted until the end of 1362 (March 1984). At this point, body of the system, including the IRGC forces, Basij volunteers, and revolutionary people, were targeted. The assassination of ‘over one thousand Iranian people’ was done in this phase.
