World condemns Israeli strike on Iranian embassy in Damascus

International condemnation surged following the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria on Monday, as nations worldwide voiced outrage over the Israeli airstrike.

The Israeli airstrike, which took place in Damascus's Mezzeh district on Monday, resulted in the deaths of seven military advisors from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). Iranian officials have vowed a decisive response to what they described as a violation of international obligations and conventions.

The assault drew sharp rebukes from governments and foreign ministries, citing violations of international law and diplomatic norms.

Russia says Israeli attack is 'act of aggression', requests UNSC meeting

The Russian embassy in Tehran issued a statement expressing deep shock and outrage over the attack, emphasizing its violation of international law, particularly the Vienna Convention safeguarding diplomatic and consular premises.

Russia's foreign ministry also condemned Israel's actions as unacceptable and urged the Israeli leadership to halt provocative military actions in Syria and neighboring countries.

Additionally, Moscow requested a UN Security Council meeting regarding Monday's Israeli airstrike on Iran's diplomatic facility in Syria, whichis set to be convened on April 2nd.

China condemns Israel strike, opposes any action that escalate tensions

China on Tuesday said it condemned Israeli air strikes that destroyed the Iranian embassy's consular annex in Damascus, adding it opposed "any actions that lead to an escalation of tensions".

"China condemns the attack," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, adding, "the security of diplomatic institutions cannot be violated, and Syria's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity should be respected".

Pakistan denounces the Israeli strike as 'irresponsible'

Pakistan joined the chorus of condemnation, denouncing the strike as “irresponsible” and a “breach of Syria's sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.” Islamabad called on the UN Security Council to intervene and prevent further Israeli aggression in the region.

The spokesperson for the Pakistani ministry of foreign affairs strongly condemned the terrorist attack by the Zionist regime on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, emphasizing that the irresponsible actions of Israeli forces could escalate tensions significantly in the region.

In a statement issued by Pakistan's spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs, the country denounced the attack on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria, as severely condemnable.

The statement read, "We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and government of Iran."

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch considered the Zionist attack on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus a violation of Syria's sovereignty, contrary to international laws, and in violation of the United Nations Charter. She added, "This action also undermines the stability and security of Syria."

The Pakistani spokesperson emphasized: "Attacks against diplomats or diplomatic premises are also illegal under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations."

She stressed: "The irresponsible actions of Israeli forces could lead to a significant escalation in an already volatile region."

Targeting of diplomatic facilities is violation of international laws: Riyadh

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry condemned an attack on Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus, saying that Riyadh categorically rejects the targeting of diplomatic facilities.

Saudi Arabia rejected targeting diplomatic facilities for any justification, and under any pretext, which is a violation of international diplomatic laws and the rules of diplomatic immunity, the statement reads.

Qatar stands firm against terrorism, condemns Israel for war crimes

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, condemned the targeting of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and deemed it a blatant violation of international conventions and diplomatic norms.

The Qatari statement said, "Qatar emphasizes its complete opposition to the targeting of diplomatic facilities and the necessity of supporting them in accordance with the rules of international law."

The statement added, "The Qatari government completely rejects the targeting of diplomatic and consular representations and, while emphasizing the need to support their staff based on the rules of international law, once again declares its firm position in rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of their motives and reasons."

Oman urges immediate cessation of Israeli aggression

Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said in its statement, "We condemn the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and consider it a violation of Syria's sovereignty."

Oman, in a statement issued by the country’s ministry of foreign affairs, while emphasizing the need to stop the escalation of tensions in the region and opposition to aggression and other actions that threaten security and stability, extended condolences to the families of the victims of the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

UAE denounces the attack on Iranian Consulate in Syria

The official Emirates News Agency (WAM) also reported in this regard that the country condemned the targeting of Iran's diplomatic representation in the Syrian capital in a brief statement issued by the UAE ministry of foreign affairs.
