Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Australia’s designation of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, calling the move unlawful, politically driven, and influenced by the Zionist regime, while warning that it sets a dangerous precedent and undermines established international norms.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the offensive and unjustifiable action of the Australian Government in labeling the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps of Iran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran deems this action unlawful, indefensible, and violative of the legal and international norms governing respect for the sovereign equality of States.

While expressing its abhorrence at the acquiescence of certain Australian policymakers in the malicious policy of the genocidal Israeli regime in spreading falsehoods against Iran, it underscores the international responsibility of the Australian Government for this wrongful act.

This irresponsible measure is a continuation of the grave error committed by the Australian Government on the basis of wholly baseless accusations fabricated by the security agencies of the Zionist regime, an error that made the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Iran and Australia a bargaining chip in appeasing the Zionist occupying regime. This is notwithstanding the fact that the competent Australian authorities—including the New South Wales Police—explicitly acknowledged on 25 October 2025 the fabricated nature of the allegation of Iran’s involvement in an action against Jewish targets, affirming that no evidence whatsoever exists indicating Iranian involvement in the alleged anti-Jewish acts in Australia.

The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes that the political decision of the Australian Government constitutes a dangerous and unlawful precedent engineered under the influence of the Zionist regime with the aim of diverting global public attention from the genocide in Gaza. Accordingly, it amounts to complicity between the instigators of this act and the perpetrators of crimes who are under investigation by the International Criminal Court.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recalling the elevated, empowering, and honorable status of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps as an integral part of the official armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran—which has played an unparalleled role in defending Iran’s sovereignty and national security against foreign aggression and in combating terrorism, including Daesh—underscores the determination of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to adopt all necessary measures to defend the standing and dignity of its armed forces against any hostile labeling.
