TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The campaign against the inauspicious phenomenon of terrorism needs comprehensive mechanism at regional and international levels, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said.

Offering condolences to Turkey's National Assembly Speaker Ismail Kahraman on the deaths of people in the terrorist incident of Istanbul Ataturk Airport, Larijani said Takfiri terrorism has endangered security of all nations, Muslim nations in particular.

The top lawmaker expressed his deep sorrow over the sad event and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims.

He further blamed expansion of terrorism in the region on the policies adopted by the Zionist regime of Israel and the global hegemonic powers to institutionalize the occupation of the Palestinian lands (by Israel), spoil the rights of the Palestinian people and weaken Muslim world.

The explosions at Istanbul’s international airport left at least 41 people dead and over 200 others injured in an attack on Tuesday evening, which officials blamed on the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group.

Shortly before the blasts, assailants armed with AK-47 rifles became involved in a firefight with security and police near the airport’s x-ray security checkpoint.

The gunmen then detonated what are believed to have been suicide bombs. Three attackers died on the scene, said the Turkish prime minister, Binali Yıldırım.
