Iran condemns Orlando mass shooting

TEHRAN, Jun. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokesman on Monday slammed Orlando shooting which killed and injured more than 100 civilians.

“On the basis of its principled policy of condemning terrorism and its firm determination to thwart menaces of terrorism as an ominous phenomenon, the Islamic Republic of Iran slams the recent terrorist attack in Orlando of the US,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari.

The Afghan-American national Mateen carried an assault rifle and a pistol into the packed Pulse club about 2:30 a.m. Sunday and started shooting, killing 50 people and wounding scores of others.

ISIL later claimed responsibility for the attacks, according to media outlets affiliated with the terror group.
