Dehghan in Moscow to confer on ways for fighting terrorism

 

TEHRAN, Apr. 27 (MNA) – Iran’s Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan heading a delegation arrived in Russia Tue. night to participate in the 5th Moscow International Security Conference slated for April 27-28.

According to the scheduled plans, 5th Moscow International Security Conference will open on Wednesday, hosting 500 participants, including defense ministers and deputy ministers, chiefs of the general staff and a number of experts from 82 invited countries to confer on ways for fighting terrorism and arrive at an international convergence against this grave threat.

In addition to the fight against terrorism as the main topic of the conference, the event will also cover Asia-Pacific security issues, global stability and military cooperation.

Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with a number of participating officials on the sidelines of the two-day international conference.

Iran’s participation in Moscow event is highly regarded due to Tehran-Moscow joint anti-terrorism strategies which has managed to prevent the spread of terrorism in the Middle East.

The presence of Iranian delegation in Moscow International Security Conference, focus of which is on terrorism, indicates the will of the two countries to set up bilateral defense cooperation and to develop regional convergence.

Iran and Russian defense ministers, so far, have held a number of negotiations, the last one of which in February, 2015, to discuss issues of bilateral interes.
