MKO claims responsibility for the assassination of JS member

The Mujahedeen e-Khalq terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the assassination of a member of Jihad of Construction (Persian: Jahād-e Sāzandegī), an Iranian post-revolutionary volunteer organization devoted to constructive activities in rural and underserved areas, in 1982.

According to Habilian Association database (Specialized Center of Research on the MKO's Crimes), the MKO terrorist group has made the confession in No. 40 of the Journal of Muslim Student Associations’ Union Abroad, one of the group’s press organs during early years of the 80s.

At that issue, the journal's editors have collected some news about the MKO’s operations in Iran which had been published in Jomhouri-e Eslami (Islamic Republican) and Ettelaat, two official Iranian newspapers, during February and March 1982. The MKO’s journal has described these news as “some of the Iranian government’s confessions about Numerous Nationwide operations of the MKO”.

Among the news published in the newspaper that the MKO’s publication has referred to it as a document for its bravely operations, one is about assassination of a Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Rezaei, member of Jihad of Construction in Shiraz by MKO agents. According to this news, on the morning of Tuesday, March 16, 1982, Hujjat al-Islam Rezaei was going to work by a Land Rover automobile when his car was volleyed by bullets of MKO gunmen riding another car in front of the fire. The news states that Mohammad Rezaei who had been shot in the face and eyes, immediately was taken to hospital.
