Iran condemns terrorist attack on mosque in Saudi Arabia

The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on a Shiite mosque in Saudi Arabia.

At least four people were killed and 18 others were injured in an attack on a Shiite mosque in al-Ahsa, eastern Saudi Arabia.

It was a shooting and worshippers reportedly stopped the attacker from detonating a suicide bomb belt at Imam Ridha Mosque in the town of Mahasen in al-Ahsa region in the Eastern Province.

Condemning the terrorist attack, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of victims.

He noted that the repetition of terror attacks on mosques and Husseiniyahs in eastern Saudi Arabia signifies “the worrying security situation in the region and negligence of security forces in fulfilling their responsibility in ensuring public security against terrorists' attacks.”
