Rouhani: Terror consequences have spread to Europe like contagious disease

President Hassan Rouhani has reiterated Tehran’s position that Iran is ready to cooperate with other countries, especially the European Union countries, in fight against terrorism.

Rouhani made the remarks during a meeting with Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko in Tehran on Sunday.

“Tehran is ready to hold consultation and cooperation on important regional and international issues with other countries especially Croatia,” Rouhani said.

He added, “Today, the consequences of violence and terrorism have spread to Europe like a contagious disease. So, all should sense the danger when there is violence and terrorism in a region.”

He also attached great importance to status of Iran in the Middle East region and Croatia in the Balkans region and said that the two countries can connect the two regions.

Elsewhere, Rouhani said that Iran and Croatia should expand ties in various spheres.

The Croatian parliament speaker expressed condolences and sympathy over a fatal stampede in Mecca on September 24 in which more than 4000 pilgrims from different countries including 465 Iranians were killed.

Leko also said the two countries enjoy great capacities to expand cooperation.

He said that Croatia is determined to expand ties with Iran to help establish peace and stability in the world.

Croatia attaches great importance to Iran’s role in settling the crises in the Middle East region, he added.
