Rouhollah Karimi was born on March 21, 1966 in north western city of Zanjan.  He was born in a middle class family with three sisters and two brothers. Rouhollah finished his preliminary studies in Hedayat school. After he entered high school, Rouhollah used to spend his summers in an automobile repair shop.

At that time, while the country was under the Iraqi Ba’ath regime’s attacks and Iranian soldiers were fighting the enemy in western and southern regions, terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq organization members conducted assassinations in order to destabilize the country.

In one of the assassinations, two of the MKO agents attacked the auto repair shop of Ibrahim Cheraghi on August 20, 1981, aiming to murder him. Ibrahim Cheraghi was shot in the neck and was severely injured in the attack but his apprentice, Rouhollah Karimi, didn’t survive the terrorist attack and was martyred. Martyr Karimi was laid to rest in his hometown, Zanjan.
